Helen has been a successful school improvement adviser for 15 years, first with Hertfordshire Standards and School Effectiveness and subsequently with Herts for Learning (HfL). Prior to that, she was a headteacher for 13 years, working in schools in challenging circumstances. She resigned from her post as one of the directors of HfL at the end of February 2018 and now runs her own school improvement business. Her specific areas of interest are provision for vulnerable pupils, including for those who have special educational needs and/or disabilities, provision for pupils who are supported by the pupil premium grant, leadership and management in educational settings, safeguarding and school-self-evaluation. Helen is a lead Ofsted inspector.
Thursday 25th October and Thursday 22nd November 2018
The first session is aimed at sharing ideas about how to show the impact of leaders’ and teachers’ work on the progress of pupils who find learning difficult. Helen will share with you some ideas for showing progress and there will be an opportunity for you to reflect, action plan and share ideas with others. There will be a gap task between the two sessions. In the second session, Helen will lead an appreciative enquiry into what worked well and what ‘even better if’ might look like. You will be expected to bring some examples of the work you have carried out as part of the gap task.
The sessions will be held at The Grove Academy, WD25 9RH from 1.30pm-4pm.
The cost of the 2 part course: Alliance Members £130, Non- Alliance £140.
