Impact Leadership 3

This innovative subject leader course will run from January to June over six half day sessions. It is suitable for subject leaders (core and foundation) who want to ensure that their leadership achieves the maximum possible impact on improving teaching and learning. Sessions are a mix of theory and practical activities.
The course will be facilitated by Sally Bishop and Claire Hawtin.
By attending this course subject leaders will:
Explore all aspects of a subject leadership role and assess their own school strengths and areas for development within this.
Create an action plan to improve areas for development and explore the driving and restraining forces for improvement.
Explore and discuss theoretical ‘think pieces’ that explore current outstanding leadership practice.
Conduct paired lesson observations in order to understand how to identify and prioritise areas for development.
Know how to write a tailored programme of support to address within school variance in the quality of teaching and learning in their subject.
Monitor and evaluate subject planning and conduct book scrutiny. Use the monitoring to prioritise areas for development.
Learn how to plan and conduct an effective pupil voice survey that has a measurable impact on improving teaching and learning.
Explore between and within school data (own school) and identify action points for improvement.
Learn how to model to others how to deliver coached lesson feedback to directly improve pupil outcomes.
Explore ideas to improve parental involvement and interest within their subject.
Write and present an accurate subject evaluation form.
Experience a formal Ofsted subject specific interview with a ‘friendly, current Ofsted Inspector’ with feedback to improve performance.
This is a significant course which will impact on school development
